Location: Grey Shed near the Food Pantry Exit Doors

The Garden City United Methodist Church in partnership with

the Garden City Food Pantry is providing a Community Refrigerator.

This is an extension of our monthly distribution, which is on the

2nd Thursday of every month. The community refrigerator will be

available 24 hours a day, in order to assist with the unknown

needs of the community.

What is a community refrigerator?

It is a fridge that will be open to anyone who needs food.

It will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Who can access the food?

It will be most easily accessible to the community of Garden City, however anyone in need is welcome to the food items available.

Where will the fridge be located?

It is located next to the main doors of the Food Pantry.

What types of food will be available?

Fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs and dairy products, prepared canned meals, tuna, and other canned meats. Also, nonperishable food items and personal care items will be available. Items will vary based on availability.

Why are we doing this?

This is a combined ministry of Garden City United Methodist Church and The Garden City Food Pantry. Part of the church’s vision for the future is to reach out beyond the walls of the church and spread love and compassion to those in the community.

How are we financing this? We have received a generous grant from the United Way of Southwestern PA.

Garden City UMC Community Refrigerator Ministry open for business 24/7

Rev. Gallagher offered a prayer of blessing on this new ministry, and individuals had the opportunity to look inside the new space.

“The needs in our area continue to grow,” Gallagher said. “This Community Refrigerator will offer an opportunity to meet those needs in a way that provides resources in emergency times without having to contact the church and/or to provide total anonymity.”
